Donation & Transparency Policy
How donations are processed, allocated, and stewarded to support sustainable systems for market women.
1. Our Commitment
Sustainable Market Women Foundation (“SMWF,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to responsible stewardship, transparency, and ethical use of donated funds.
This policy explains how donations are processed and used, including options for program-directed giving.
2. Donation Processing & Security
Donations made through our website are processed securely via third-party, PCI-compliant payment providers. SMWF does not store your full credit or debit card information.
Upon successful processing, a donation receipt is sent to the email address provided.
Security note
If you believe your card was used without authorization, please contact your bank or card provider immediately and email SMWF so we can assist with documentation.
3. How Donations Are Used
Donations support SMWF’s mission to build sustainable economic systems for market women. Funds may be used for mission-driven programs, operations, partnerships, and related activities that advance charitable impact.
SMWF works to allocate resources responsibly across program delivery, infrastructure, and core operational needs required to sustain effective services.
4. Program-Directed Giving
By default, donations support SMWF’s mission as a whole. When available, donors may choose to direct contributions to a specific priority program.
SMWF makes every reasonable effort to honor donor preferences. If a selected program becomes unavailable, fully funded, or impractical, SMWF may reallocate funds to closely aligned initiatives to ensure the donation still achieves meaningful charitable impact.
Donor intent
Our goal is to respect donor intent while ensuring contributions remain effective and usable for timely charitable work.
5. Refunds, Errors & Disputes
Donations are generally non-refundable because they are applied immediately toward charitable activities.
Refunds may be considered only in cases of:
- Duplicate transactions
- Processing errors
- Unauthorized or fraudulent charges
Refund requests must be submitted within 14 days of the transaction date.
To request assistance, contact smwfglobal@gmail.com with your name, donation date, and the email used at checkout.
6. Receipts & Tax Information
SMWF provides donation receipts by email for your records. Donations may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Please consult your tax advisor for guidance.
Unless otherwise stated, no goods or services are provided in exchange for a contribution.
Recordkeeping note
Please retain your donation receipt for tax and personal recordkeeping purposes.
7. Donor Privacy
SMWF respects donor privacy. We do not sell, rent, or trade donor information. Donor information is used only for processing contributions, issuing receipts, maintaining nonprofit records, and sharing mission-related updates (unless you opt out).
